Air Travel

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Lately, I’ve really been fawning over well-designed infographics. I love looking over interesting data, but it can sometimes be pretty boring. For my money, solid visual representation can give data sets even more validity and interest. With all of that in mind, I have created this graphic of my air travel for the decade (which isn’t much). Here’s a larger version, showing more detail.

Poster Series: Seasons

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

I’ve had the idea for this poster series for quite a while. I wanted to create four different prints, all the same size, using the same design techniques. I also used distinct color schemes and landscapes to communicate the imagery of the four seasons. After a significant amount of time and a few attempts, here are the final designs: winter, spring, summer and autumn. Hope you like them!

Est. 1980

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

This poster was designed in the same vein as, you guessed it, the Est. 1981 print. My intention was to create a nostalgic feeling for a decade long past, while using some modern design techniques. I wanted to use a tall, thin typeface that could present some text and work as a design element. I found the perfect solution in Overhead BRK.

Inspirational Design: Matthew Lyons

Friday, January 15th, 2010

I am really thrilled and inspired by these images from Matthew Lyons. I originally ran across Matthew’s work on Scott Hansen’s (ISO50) blog. These give me a sense that I’m looking at an alternate version of the 1960s, but in the future (if that makes any sense). I get a dark, mid-century modern vibe from his style, which I love.
